GIMP 2.6.5 is another bug-fix release in the stable GIMP 2.6 series. The source can be downloaded from ftp.gimp.org or from one of the mirrors listed at http://gimp.org/downloads/#mirrors. Binary packages for the various supported platforms should become available soon; please check the Downloads section on www.gimp.org.

When I try to download the windows version of 2.5, I get 2.4!
Where did you try to get it from? The official site provides information on downloading an installer. If this is what you used but got the older version then you should post a message to the GIMP Developer mailing list to let them know there is a problem.
I don’t use Windows so I can’t try it to verify the version. The web site says the Windows version if 2.6.5.
Question. i have trouble using the path tool because of the rulers. How do I turn the ruler off? The version I have is 2.6
View->Show Rulers will toggle the visibility of the rulers.
