Working Production Edits for Section V

This is my first post to the blog as I prepare for the release of the book. The web site isn't open to the public yet, but I felt there should be some content here when I finally do open up. So from this point on I'll try to track the progress of production for the book.
I've just received part V back from the production edit staff (Megan Dunchak and Tyler Ortman) at No Starch Press for review. This is the section on Advertising Effects. The first thing Megan noticed was that some of the brushes I used were not in her Ubuntu-based GIMP installation. I'm not sure why that is yet, but I'll dig in and find out soon enough.
All versions of the GIMP should come with the same set of brushes, no matter which Linux distribution you have. I'm fairly certain that it doesn't matter which OS you use either. Windows and Mac users should still have access to the same set of brushes I used in the book because I only used the brushes found in a default GIMP source package. The only difference that might be possible is that GIMP is packaged differently by the different Linux distributions or OS platforms. Perhaps some brushes are in an extra gimp-data package, for example. If you're ambitious enough to compile GIMP from source, however, you definitely have access to all the brushes I used in the tutorials. And even if you don't compile from the source, you should still have access to those brushes (and patterns) I used in the book. If not, send a nasty-gram to whoever packaged your GIMP distribution.
