GFXMuse Tools License
---------------------

The Graphics Muse Tools are freely available, but do not meet all the
requirements of the Open Source specification. These programs and source
code can be used by an end user for personal, private use (not including
redistribution) in any way they like. If you wish to redistribute the
programs or source or create derivative works (software based on code in
the Graphics Muse Tools source) there are some restrictions.

In the following, the term "programs" refers to the Graphics Muse Tools
source code in its entirety, including programs, patterns, brushes, and
accompanying files. "Author" refers to me, Michael J. Hammel.

1. The programs, in source or binary, may not be redistributed, either
commercially or for free, without prior consent from the author.
2. The programs may not be included in any collection of other software
without express permission from the author.
3. The programs may not be distributed, either alone or with other
software, on CD, floppy disks, or other media that accompany any printed
material without express permission from the author.
4. Derived products - programs or other files based on the files in the
Graphics Muse Tools distribution - are permitted but with the following
   restrictions:
   a. derived works must not be competitive products to any of the
programs which exist in the Graphics Muse Tools distribution from
      which the derived product originated.
   b. derived works may not use the Graphics Muse logo.
   c. derived works must include a notice that code was derived from the
Graphics Muse Tools and must point to the Graphics Muse web site at
      http://www.graphics-muse.org.
Derivative works which meet these restrictions may be licensed any way
you choose as long as the license does not attempt to alter this license
as it applies to the Graphics Muse Tools.
5. No other license may take precedence over this license for these
   programs.
6. This license applies to all Graphics Muse Tools programs except that for
which a previous license has been provided.

Thats as legalize as I get. What this means is I wrote these tools as a way
to add value to the books I write relating to the Gimp. Therefore, I don't
want them included with other books (the value add for my book would be
diminished) and I don't want the source code used to create similar tools
for inclusion with other books. That's the reason for this sort of license.

Rule 6 above refers to things like code borrowed from the megawidget code.
That code has it's own license. Note that no GNU code was included in the
Graphics Muse Tools, since doing so would violate the GPL.

You can use the source code for other projects - just make sure you do
something different with the code.
