BeagleBox: parts arriving

Most of the ordered parts have arrive, including the beagleboard.  Man, is that a tiny board for so much capability!  I can't wait to bring it up.  Still waiting on the USB hub and 1g sd card.  I had to move a 25-in-1 USB-based card reader from my main development box at home to a build server cuz the former didn't work with the reader.  Once moved, the reader didn't work until I realized you had to load the sd card upside down.  Weird.

I also downloaded all the reference software and re-read the docs on how to bring up the board for the first time. I had forgotten how BeagleBoard is focused on SD card booting.  Most other boards I've worked on booted from nor or nand flash and ran with some form of sdram.  BeagleBoard is a different beast.  The 128MB lpddr RAM should be enough for a set top box, but we'll see.

I moved a TV into my office and have the s-video cable connected to it.  I even vacuumed out my dev boxes to prep for doing more work out of my office (instead of remoting in via my laptop from the living room).

Strangely, my wife asked me to connect another computer to the TV in the bedroom so we can watch streamed video in there too.  She wasn't completely aware of what I was doing with beaglebox.  Till I get that working I get to buy another cheapo atx board an make it look stereo equipment so she can watch streamed south park before we go to sleep.

Life is good.
