{"id":120,"date":"2006-10-19T20:01:23","date_gmt":"2006-10-20T01:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?page_id=120"},"modified":"2006-10-19T20:01:23","modified_gmt":"2006-10-20T01:01:23","slug":"create-hidden-lighting-displays","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?page_id=120","title":{"rendered":"Create hidden lighting displays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This process is for those willing to work with electrical components and isn&#39;t afraid of electrical wiring.&nbsp; I don&#39;t recommend this for anyone who doesn&#39;t know how to replace an electrical cable to a household lamp, for example.<\/p>\n<p>The things you need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bayonette lamp sockets<\/li>\n<li>Bayonette lamps (voltage TBD)<\/li>\n<li>A base for each lamp <\/li>\n<li>Base side connectors for the wires (type TBD) <\/li>\n<li>A transformer (electrical characteristics are TBD)<\/li>\n<li>A box for the transformer<\/li>\n<li>20 gauge wire<\/li>\n<li>Transformer side connectors for the wires<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Basic process is to anchor the lamp sockets to a base and solder the wire connectors to the socket. The base is long enough but thin enough to fit under a rock wall or other heavy object.&nbsp; A V-shaped piece of wood (painted silver to relfect) is placed behind the lamp so the light does not shine toward the viewer -it only shines toward the display.<\/p>\n<p>On the transformer side, the transformer has 4 wires.&nbsp; Two go to an electrical cable you plug into the wall.&nbsp; The other two are connected to a series of wires that get soldered to connectors that are place on the box.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The connectors on the lamps and the box are supposed to allow you to easily wire the lamps to the box without worrying about the length of the wire.&nbsp; If you need a longer wire, just use a longer wire.&nbsp; If you need more lamps then you add more connectors to the box (as long as the transformer can support them &#8211; I&#39;ll make notes on this later).&nbsp; When you take the village down later, you unplug the wires which makes storing the lamps and transformer a bit cleaner (no wires wrapped around everything).<\/p>\n<p>That&#39;s the idea.&nbsp; We&#39;ll see how much of this I can get built this year. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This process is for those willing to work with electrical components and isn&#39;t afraid of electrical wiring.&nbsp; I don&#39;t recommend this for anyone who doesn&#39;t know how to replace an electrical cable to a household lamp, for example.
