{"id":138,"date":"2006-12-12T10:49:04","date_gmt":"2006-12-12T15:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?p=138"},"modified":"2006-12-12T10:49:04","modified_gmt":"2006-12-12T15:49:04","slug":"usta-investing-millions-in-the-tennis-channel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?p=138","title":{"rendered":"USTA investing millions in The Tennis Channel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/ten\/news?slug=ap-usta-tennischannel&amp;prov=ap&amp;type=lgns\">USTA investing millions in The Tennis Channel<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, this just sucks.&nbsp; My family is big into playing and watching tennis.&nbsp; My daughter is a state high school champ.&nbsp; We love watching the US Open, the French Open, the Australian Open and Wimbledon, along with any other tournaments we&#8217;re lucky enough to see on basic cable.&nbsp; Now they want to take the French Open onto the Tennis Channel.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>What sucks about this is that the Tennis Channel is not on basic cable.&nbsp; Look, I&#8217;m already forking out $90+ a month for cable services, including high speed internet.&nbsp; There&#8217;s only so much we can spend each month on entertainment.&nbsp; Cable doesn&#8217;t offer ala-carte services, so I&#8217;m stuck with buying expanded (actually, expanded plus digital) services just to get the Tennis Channel.&nbsp; Unfortunately, that&#8217;s not an option.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;re losing more options to cable that we can&#8217;t get without paying even more to the local cable company.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t see this as a way of extending tennis&#8217; reach to the masses.&nbsp; I see it as a way of taking it away from the masses.&nbsp; I just hope I&#8217;m misreading this deal.&nbsp; I hope they&#8217;re actually spending money to move the Tennis Channel to basic cable.
