{"id":177,"date":"2007-10-03T20:34:14","date_gmt":"2007-10-04T01:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?p=177"},"modified":"2007-10-03T21:01:58","modified_gmt":"2007-10-04T02:01:58","slug":"i915-dual-head-configuration-fc5-f7-doesnt-work-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?p=177","title":{"rendered":"i915 dual head configuration (FC5 &#8211; F7 doesn&#8217;t work yet)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I posted some queries about getting dual head working with my laptop, which uses the <font color=\"#ff9900\"><\/font><font color=\"#993300\">Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM\/GMS\/910GML Express Graphics Controlle<\/font>r, aka i915GM.&nbsp; Under FC5 the i810 X.org driver supported dual head AND TV-out.&nbsp; But I&#8217;m having a problem getting dual head working under F7 with either the i810 driver or the experimental intel driver (see my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/wp\/?p=175\">previous post<\/a>).&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>One of the folks on the <a href=\"http:\/\/lug.boulder.co.us\/\">Boulder Linux User Group<\/a> mailing list asked if I could post my config files for dual head that worked under FC5, so here there are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/source\/X11\/xorg.conf.lcd-only\">xorg.conf.lcd-only<\/a><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/source\/X11\/xorg.conf.lcd-and-lcd\">xorg.conf.lcd-and-lcd<\/a><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graphics-muse.org\/source\/X11\/xorg.conf.lcd-and-tv\">xorg.conf.lcd-and-tv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In reality, these are all just slight variations on the xorg.conf.lcd-only configuration, with a different ServerLayout defined to get the configuration of interest.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve heavily commented these config files for use with the i810 driver.&nbsp; I don&#8217;nt know why they don&#8217;t work with the F7 version of the i810 driver.&nbsp; At the moment, the best I&#8217;m getting from them is segfaults from the X server.<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#003366\"><strong>Update: 2007-10-03<\/strong><\/font><br \/>Right after posting this I went to the MythTV Users mailing lits and searched for i915.&nbsp; Turned up a bunch of information that might be useful to get this working:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mythtv.org\/wiki\/index.php\/Installing_MythTV_on_an_Intel_Mac_Mini_using_Ubuntu#Viewing_HD_Material\">Installing MythTV on a MacMini w\/Ubuntu<\/a> &#8211; Looks like the MacMini has an i915.&nbsp; This might help, but haven&#8217;t read it yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Jedi wrote:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><tt>It just sorts itself out.
