Release 0.10.0 Screenshots and Videos

The 0.10.0 release is the first stable software release with a consumer grade UI for the Media Server and Media Player. The only software difference between the two is the server provides access point support to act as a router in a closed network of server and players. Future releases will extend these differences based on targeted hardware for each.

Attach: devplatform.png Δ The default desktop for the PiBox Development Platform. This is what it looks like before you add the opkg packages, which is in the set of add on packages required to go from the Development Platform to a Media Server or Media Player.
The launcher is new to 0.10.0 and provides a framework for adding new apps to the system while offering a more consumer

oriented interface. The icons, in order, provide the following functions:

  • Network Configuration
  • Set Date/Time
  • Restart
  • Terminal
  • Video Playback
The Wifi configuration in the Network Config tool is used to configure a PiBox Media Server for use as a wifi client. The server can also be configured as an access point to create a local network with players as clients.
The Video Front End (videofe) to omxplayer. VideoFE is a GTK+ application that reads a database generated by VideoLib from the media directories on the local PiBox. Each PiBox (Media Server or Media Player) is capable of mounting any other PiBox's SMB exported directories so you can place the media sticks on any PiBox device and the others will see it.
A new clock app was added with this release. This app allows setting the data/time for the system.
The web UI has been cleaned up with this release to provide a common user experience throughout. This is the front page, accessible after authentication. First use of the web UI requires changing the default admin password.
Network configuration of the server through the web UI is identicial to the network configuration app available from the launcher. This is the hostap configuration page.
This is the network configuration page where interfaces are enabled and their IP configuration is established.
The wifi client configuration assumes WPA2 Personal usage.
