Adobe released the Flash Player 9 plugin for Linux this week. I downloaded it and tried it under identical software configs (FC5 & Firefox 1.5.0.7) on two different machines. I tried viewing my two favorite sites that contain Flash content: ABC's Lost and SciFi.com's Battlestar Galactica . With the old Flash 7 plugin both sites would load except for the Flash content. With the Flash Player 9 both sites load but then essentially lock up the browser. It's not a hard lock up – moving the scroll bar does work if you wait a few seconds for the browser to respond. I notice no network activity during this time which means I don't think it's a matter of downloading the content. It's something in the player.
I'm appreciative of Adobe working on the player for Linux users though I wish their Beta program had included some way to provide feedback. I don't see any information on the download site. … Hang on a tick. It looks like you need to go to the PreRelease site to report problems. I guess I'll head over there and offer what little I found. Maybe they have some debugging suggestions.
Looks like the place to provide feedback is on the feedback form.
