If you're interested in the whole copyright law issue that seems to be the backbone (or spineless) matter for the DMCA, you gotta watch this little 10 minutes video.  It's called “A Fair(y) Use Tale”.  It explains it all.  With a chuckle.  Just don't try to follow the scenes.  Just follow the words.  Trust me.
