Cool Tool of the Day: Filelight

I’ve been looking for something like “largest” for some time now. “Largest” was a command line tool, for Solaris I believe, that would tell you which were the top 10 largest files on a system. I could easily write a tool like that but I knew someone would have already done it. And it wasn’t a high priority to find it. So I never did.

Until today.

Filelight is graphical so I can easily see what is taking up so much disk space. Granted, like any filesystem scanner it takes a while to gather its data. But the results are easy to use and very cool.
