Halloween haul from Arrow

rpi3-boxI don't enter many contests.  I see little value in getting something for free. It's far more interesting to earn them.  But every now and then something catches my eye that seems worth the minor effort of a big reward.

So a while back, perhaps back in September or so, I entered a contest to win prizes from Arrow Electronics.  It was a grab bag of stuff, highlighted by a raspberry pi 3.  That's what caught my eye.  I wanted to get hold of one of these to see if the wifi worked any better than the ones I have stuck in external hubs for my other Pis.  But what would be the odds I'd actually win?

Turns out not that bad.  Because I won!  And it was quite a haul.  In the gallery you can see a few fun things, like the BristleBot which is a really simple vibrating device.  Just a little bit of fun.  There's also a trinket and a wifi SD card.  Plus lots of fun little bits to add to my work box.  And it was shipped in a plastic pumpkin pail for Halloween!  Very fun.  My thanks to the good people of Arrow for this grab bag of goodies.

I've not had any time to play with this stuff yet, but will be working on the RPi3 in December, porting pibox to it.  It's got a different processor plus wifi/bluetooth.  It might make a better PiBox server and the RPi2, though it depends on how well the wifi works.
