MiniMyth Build System

I’ve finally got my minimyth build environment for the PXE files (boot kernel and cramfs ramdisk) working to the point where MythTV will come up. The build process is fairly clean – you can build different components individually then rebuild the “pkg” (kernel and cramfs). That makes working on updates a lot easier.

The build system is not online yet but I hope to have a web page for it under XEUS next week sometime. I’m currently calling it “mkmm” for lack of a better name.

Note that “mkminimyth” was an earlier version that tried to do the build under a debootstrap environment but that just got too complex to deal with dependencies. It’s just easier to copy over the bits you need from your build system.

Now if I can get my MythTV server (backend) working again. For some reason everytime I try to watch TV MythTV puts my Xv session into funky color mode. I have to exit X to fix it. If I watch video captured directly from the WinTV PVR 250 card with MPlayer the video is fine. But that same video is mucked up *after* I try using MythTV. Sometime just aint right – a reinstall is probably due. Hopefully the 0.15.1 RPMs are not replaced with 0.16 yet since I hear 0.16 is kind of broken (or not working optimally).
