Acer Aspire redux: the wifi magic button

Someone wrote to me a while back after I got my aspire working with linux to ask which button on the front panel to push to get wifi working. At the time I didn't realize I had to press that button. Well, after a few reboots to drag the laptop around a few places I discovered that yes, indeed, you do sometimes have to press the right button (the one directly to the left of the audio plugs) to enable the wifi hardware. Strange thing, though – it appears that this is needed sometimes. I don't reboot all that often and haven't kept track if it's really needed all the time or not. But I think it's just sometimes. Which is odd. But not particularly annoying.

Anyway, just a quick post to remind myself and maybe lets some googlers know about that issue.
